About Library

 

            » The college has a well-equipped, fully automated library with the state-of-the art facilities.  There are more than 81,000  books

                and 160 journals on various subjects. The college library  serves the educational and research needs of the   students and

                staff  of the college. It is fully  computerized with barcoding facilities and has Library Management Software  called "NOOLAGAM".

            » The library has got the membership of Inflibnet which covers more than 5000 on-line journals.

            » The books for the library are purchased on the basis of the requirement of various departments and also for research

                       needs. Necessary CDs are purchased and journals are subscribed. National Geographic CDs are available from 1988 to

               2000. The library has the news paper (The Hindu) back volumes for the last 7 years.

            » All the students and staff are members of the library. They are provided with ID cards with barcode which ensures easy

               accessibility and book issue procedure.

            » The library has an Advisory Committee which meets twice in a year. A lot of user friendly initiatives have been made as

               per the suggestions of the Committee.

            » The total area of the library is 21,025 sq ft. with seating capacity of 416.

            » The working hours of the library are from 8.30 am to 6 pm on all working days, examination days and vacations.

                References and transactions can be done on these days. On Sunday the library is open from 10 am to 4pm and only

                reference can be made.

» OPAC(Online Public Access Catalogue) Searching Service.
            
» Circulation Section for books issue and return.
            
» Three stack rooms, Two for Science subjects and one for Arts subjects.
            
» Entry Computer: Optical Character Recognition entry using ID card or System Entry.
            
» Open Access system: Students and staff can have direct access to the book shelves.
            
» INFLIBNET Online Database Service.
            
» Periodical Reference Section which stacks around 3975 bounded back volumes of Journals/Magazines.
            
» Digital Library (CDs/DVDs) Section with searching facility.
            
» News paper reading section.
            
» News paper (The Hindu) back volumes for the last 7 years.
            
» CCTV Security System.
            
» Reprographic Service Section
            
» Internet Browsing Center with 35 Computers to provide virtual library, printing and scaning facilities.
            
» Technical Processing Section
            
» Special Cabin for differently abled users
            
» User Orientation Programs.

Specialized Services

 

 

                 The Library has provide many Specialized services for the benefit of the students. They are as follows
            
» Book Bank Scheme: Two thousand books are available under this scheme. Books are issued to the economically

               deprived and meritorious students which they could use for the whole semester. Five students in each class are

                        selected and provided book bank facility with the recommendation of the Heads of the Departments
            
» Earn While You Learn Scheme: Economically poor students are engaged under this scheme to maintain the library

               books and journals. They are given monthly stipend by the College Management.
            
» Best Library User Award: In order to motivate the usage of library, twenty students are awarded Best Library User

               Awards” every year.
            
» Centre for Civil Service: To create awareness on the civil service examinations among the rural students, this centre

               is functioning within the library which has 250 specialized books. Students can use the books during the free hours.
            
» Knowledge Trove: The Trove at present has 330 books. The staff and students voluntarily donate books on their

               birthdays and on other special occasions.
            
» Previous year Question Papers: Previous year question papers are made available both in physical and electronic

               forms.
